HYBRID Sports Frequently Asked Questions FAQ's:

Q: How many energy gels do I need for a HYROX race?

A: Most athletes do well with 1x KMC NRG GEL 15–20 minutes before the start. If your race is longer or you tend to fade late, use a second gel—but only if you’ve practised it in training so your stomach is used to it.

Q: What are the best energy gels for HYROX?

For HYROX, you want fast carbs that are easy to take at high intensity.

KMC NRG GEL is built for quick, reliable energy and is a popular choice for hybrid sessions.

If you train regularly, our refillable gel pouches + flask are the easiest way to keep your HYROX fuel ready with less waste.

They've been tried and tested by thousands of Hybrid athletes already, including world champions.

Q: Should I use Electrolytes like ISO MIX for HYROX, or are gels enough?

Gels are the simplest “quick hit” of carbs. KMC ISO MIX is useful when you want carbs + electrolytes in one bottle, especially in warm indoor venues or if you sweat heavily.

Many athletes use ISO MIX in training and then keep a gel pre-race for a simple race-day plan.

Q: Are refillable energy gels good for HYROX training blocks?

A: Yes — HYROX blocks mean repeat sessions every week, and single-use gels get expensive and messy fast.

KMC refillable gels let you fuel your sessions with less plastic and no sticky wrappers, while keeping the same carb-focused performance you want from an energy gel.

Q: What should I take for HYROX training vs race day?

A: For HYROX training:

  • Bars work well for longer, steadier sessions
  • KMC gels suit hard intervals + station workouts
  • ISO MIX helps when you want carbs + hydration together
  • PRO MIX optimises your recovery so you can go again the next day.
  • Creatine boosts strength and power particularly high-intensity workouts.

For HYROX race day: keep it simple—a gel pre-start & mid-way, ISO MIX to replenish Electrolytes lost through sweat.
